Welcome to the Pirates of Georgetown Page! We are a local group associated with the Chesapeake Paddlers Association. That means we're a bunch of paddlers who are dedicated to kayaking pleasure and education and who get together on a regular basis to paddle and socialize in Georgetown.

Pirate Concerns

What's this group about, anyway?
It's social - the chance to meet new people with a common interest in paddling.  It's educational - learn from experienced paddlers, through chatting and through paddling and informal instruction during our weekly sessions.  It's relaxing - Jack's Boathouse and the Potomac on a beautiful Thursday evening - it's hard to beat. In a word, it's fun.

I'm not a serious paddler - Will I fit in?
Our group includes people who practically live in their kayaks and people who have never been in a kayak. Paddlers of all levels are welcome here. We even did an informal tally of our skills, see the results.

Hey, I'm a busy person. I can't come every week. Is this OK?
Sure! Everybody's busy. Some people come every week, some people drop by every once in a while. Come on down and say hi!

I don't have much money for dues. What does all this fun and merriment cost?
Not a thing! We accept donations for food and encourage everyone to join the CPA, however there are no dues for being a Pirate.
